About Beaudore — Written by Someone Who Actually Buys This Stuff
I’m Sophie Marceau.
I’ve spent the better part of a decade navigating the world of luxury beauty — not as a PR-gifted influencer, but as someone who has genuinely deliberated over whether a $180 serum is worth it before clicking “buy.”
Beaudore started because I couldn’t find a beauty resource that treated its readers like intelligent adults. Most luxury beauty content falls into one of two traps: breathless brand worship that reads like a press release, or contrarian takedowns that dismiss an entire category to seem credible.
Neither is useful when you’re standing at a Sephora counter trying to decide between La Mer and something that costs a third of the price.
What I Do Differently
Every review and comparison on Beaudore starts with the same question: is this actually worth what it costs?
That means I look at:
– Formulation: Are the active ingredients present in meaningful concentrations, or is this expensive packaging around a mediocre formula?
– Longevity: Does a luxury foundation still look good at hour six, or does it oxidize and fade?
– Honest comparison: Does this $320 face cream outperform a $45 alternative in the same category?
For fragrances, I go beyond the standard “top, heart, base” breakdown. I track how a scent evolves across a full day, how it performs in different temperatures and humidity, and whether the longevity justifies the price per milliliter.

My Promise
I buy or personally test the products I review. When something is sent for consideration, I say so. When a product doesn’t live up to its price tag, I say that too — regardless of the brand.
Luxury beauty should be a pleasure, not a gamble.
